Over the past twenty years Madagascar's standard of living has drastically declined. The farmers of Madagascar are only able to produce the most minimum amount of crops, barely enough to keep their families and the country alive. Most families have very little room to grow their crops, and this has recently become even worse due to the rapidly growing population. More people are living in Madagascar than ever before, and more people means less room. The country is an island, there isn't anywhere for people to expand to if the population growth gets out of hand.
The Republic of Madagascar has a low life expectancy due to the poor living conditions. With the majority of the country's inhabitants below the poverty line, the health of the people is also an issue. The malnutrition of the country has gotten out of hand over most recent years. People cannot provide for their families because the do not have the money to do so. As of right now over half of the country's children are experiencing a severe form of malnutrition. These children often develop sicknesses due to the poorness of their eating, but most are not bale to be treated for their sickness because of the lack of money most families have. Poverty is a problem much of the world faces, and there isn't a "fix all" for it. I believe the only way to decrease the amount of people in poverty in Madagascar is to decrease the amount of people. Farmers are getting less and less farm land because they are having to share that farm land with the growing number of people. I think Madagascar should put a more strict limit on the amount of people allowed to move to Madagascar. This would allow the farmers to have more land for themselves which would mean more farm land and food to support their families. This could also decrease the amount of people dealing with malnurishment and health issues. |
